Take Heart Boomers – The Younger Generation Will Keep The Torch Burning
Posted on Sunday, September 4th, 2011
Remember the 60’s? Remember Peace and Love? Remember everybody get together try to love one another right now?
If it seems as if these sentiments have been lost on the younger generation, take heart. Not every young person is oblivious or trying to escape life by staring at text messages. Not every young person is trying to disconnect from life.
Although it may seem as if young people everywhere are tuning out from each other by listening to, or texting, or communicating somehow with someone other than the person standing right beside them, this is NOT a universal “ailment” that all young people are suffering from.
Enter my young niece, Jessica Ann, or Jessy, I should say.
Jessy is a young woman who has taken her talents in life and put them to work to immerse herself in the world… not escape it. In doing so, she knows she has much to be thankful for.
But Jessy also knows pain. She, her friends, her family, have all suffered losses. Jessy knows what it’s like to watch the ones she loves live through deep, unrelenting pain.
What happens when a young person suffers through such pain? Well, in Jessy’s case, she learns.
And, rather than try to explain here, I’ll let Jessy do her own talking.
So, I invite you to get to know my niece Jessy and take a journey along with her as she explores a New Thing every day as she approaches her 25th birthday.
The post in particular that I want you to read is the one in which she spends some reflective moments in prayer
– real prayer –
the kind of prayer where you give thanks for the people around you, the people you love. The kind of prayer where you ask for something intangible for the people who have been wounded.
Please click on Jessy’s blog Little Choices and enjoy the gift this young person has to offer – the gift of a truly genuine and generous soul who is definitely carrying the torch for another generation.
Peace and Love, Jessy!
p.s. Save this link and go back to visit Jessy often at LittleChoices – and be sure to spread the word to any Boomers you know who are convinced that young people have all lost touch with the real world and real people: http://littlechoices.wordpress.com

Yes, OSS, I just love that family!! 😀
I just found it so refreshing to read about such a young woman getting all introspective. It really does reaffirm my faith in Jessy’s generation. She definitely is a powerful force that others her age could take a lesson or two from!
It’s all about being thankful for each other and sending those thankful prayers or vibes or whatever you want to call it out to the universe. A grateful heart is a wonderful thing! 😀
