Sunday Funnies – Robins Basking In The Sun
Posted on Sunday, February 26th, 2012
My Gram saved the Sunday Funny Papers for me and my daughter Nicole every week – many, many years ago. I think it gave us both an appreciation for the fine art of mixing humor with work. (It could also explain a lot… ) I’ll try to pass on my Gram’s gift here, sort of as a reminder to laugh every day. Thanks, Gram. Let’s see who’s got a chuckle for us today…
Okay, bird lovers… this is not the most sensitive joke in the world, but I love a play on words, so here goes:
Two robins were sitting in a tree. “I’m really hungry”, said the first one.
“Me, too” said the second. “Let’s fly down and find some lunch.”
They flew to the ground and found a nice plot of plowed ground full of worms. They ate and ate and ate and ate until they could eat no more.
“I’m so full I don’t think I can fly back up to the tree”, said the first one.
“Me either. Let’s just lay here and bask in the warm sun”, said the second.
“Okay” said the first. They plopped down, basking in the sun.
No sooner had they fallen asleep when a big fat cat sneaked up, crouched down, and thought to himself;
“I love baskin’ robins.”
p.s. Thanks to 50Plus.com for the joke via ButlerWebs.com. If you are a bird lover, sorry. I happen to love robins and cats alike, but I also love word play. So, sorry. If it’s any consolation, in the original joke the cat eats the birds. I changed the ending to protect the innocent.
p.p.s. And thanks to the State of Wisconsin for the image of their state bird, the robin. Click on the picture of the robin to see all the State’s symbols. It’s fun. By the way, the state insect is not a mosquito, although it probably should be. (I say that with love, really.)
