Sunday Funnies – Carving The Pumpkin Muppet Style

Posted on Sunday, October 16th, 2011

My Gram saved the Sunday Funny Papers for me and my daughter Nicole every week – many, many years ago. I think it gave us both an appreciation for the fine art of mixing humor with work. (It could also explain a lot… ) I’ll try to pass on my Gram’s gift here, sort of as a reminder to laugh every day. Thanks, Gram. Let’s see who’s got a chuckle for us today…

I admit it – I’m a big Muppet fan. They came after ‘my time’ of course, but my daughter grew up with them, so I had an excuse for sitting in front of the TV and getting hooked.  Many of the expressions my daughter and I use today are actually Muppetisms.  I even let some of the Muppet philosophy guide me from time to time.  Check out out more about that by clicking here:  Kermit – A Frog For All People

Now, take a minute to watch the Swedish chef as he tackles a couple pumpkins trying to side-step Jack o’ Lantern status:

Halloween is a great holiday, don’t you think?  It’s pretty much stress free.  I mean, really…  1) carve a pumpkin, 2) put on a stupid costume, and 3) go out trick or treating.  I don’t care if you’re 5 or 50;  this is a no brainer.  Goofy fun.

I also have had fun watching my grandkids personalities come through as they sort their candy.  Read more about this by clicking here:  Halloween – A Glimpse Into A Child’s Mind

As I said, the Muppets have provided me (and my daughter) with lots and lots of lessons, and always with a laugh.  Hope you enjoyed this little trip through the land of the Muppets as well as a little Halloween fun.  Happy Halloween to you!

p.s.  Want more of Kermit’s life lessons?  Check out Before You Leap: A Frog’s Eye View of Life’s Greatest Lessons.  It’s inspiring.  Such big lessons from such a little green guy.

Here’s a peek at what you’ll learn about:

  • Growing Up – Every tadpole must drop his or her tail and climb out of the pond.
  • Falling In Love – Between Hollywood romance and interspecies dating, no one knows more about love than Kermit.
  • Starting a Career – Kermit climbed out of the swamp and into Hollywood, making a big splash in life.
  • Managing your Finances – Making it easier to make some green and keep it.
  • Enjoying the Good life – Friends, laughter, and sharing Fridays With Fozzie.

This is a great read and a great gift for anyone with a sense of humor who’s trying to put their life in perspective.  You can easily buy the book by clicking right here:  Before You Leap
