Help Me Raise Money For Tornado Victims In America

Posted on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

UPDATE! More generous donations have been added to this fundraiser! Read on:

Tornadoes rip through AmericaOur American neighbors are reeling after devastating storms ripped through the middle of the country.  With entire towns destroyed, it’s not surprising to see the number of fatalities keep climbing higher and higher.  It’s heartbreaking to watch.

But, watching the news clips is not the most heartbreaking part of a destructive storm.  It’s the personal stories.  Stories that these cupcakes tell.  Everyday moments, special moments, moments of celebration that never happen, destroyed in minutes.  Families who will never come home again to celebrate anything.

This picture broke my heart.  This is the kind of moment I remember from my childhood.  These moments cannot be rebuilt, replaced, or restored when something so terrible happens.  My heart goes out to everyone who suffered through this devastation, never to recapture the beauty of that special day.

The thought of what happened to this family, the family who was happily frosting cupcakes, is too painful to imagine.  For most of us, the only connection we have with the destruction of a storm like this is watching the news.  It’s hard to watch, so sometimes it’s easier to flip the channel.

Having experienced several hurricanes, I know how much I wish I could have flipped the channel.  The devastation is unbelievable, even when you see it with your own eyes.  My world was never shaken like this.  I have been fortunate.

So, what can I do to help?  My pocketbook is empty.  Moths have taken up residency.  But, I don’t want to sit and watch anymore.  It breaks my heart.  So, again, what can I do?

I could write a small check right now and send it to the Red Cross.  That would be fine and they would appreciate any little amount I could send…but…

I started thinking; “Wait. I could use my cookbook to raise money and invite other folks to help me.”

So that’s what I’m doing and you can join me.

From now through March 14th, I am donating my proceeds from the sale of my ebook – Memory Lane Meals – to the Red Cross.

That means if you buy my ebook, you have become a part of the effort to provide comfort and care to the victims of these devastating storms.

How does that sound to you?  It sounds to me like I’m doing something other than crying at the news or, worse, flipping the channel.

AND if that’s not enough, my good friend The Hillbilly Housewife agrees with me.  She, too, wants to do something to help.  So she has generously provide me with a FREE bonus – Homemade Convenience Foods – to throw into the deal!

UPDATE!  UPDATE!

My darling daughter, Nicole Dean, has joined me in this fundraiser by generously donating her incredible guide “How To Start A Recipe Blog For Profit And Fun.”    Yes, you too can learn how to write a recipe blog AND make money doing it!  All you have to do is JUST ADD SWEAT!  This is not a get rich quick scheme, and if anyone tells you how to get rich quick… RUN!  Nicole knows what it takes to turn your passion (ie cooking) from fun to profit.  And when you buy my ebook during this fundraiser you will receive Nicole’s guide absolutely FREE.  But hurry!  This fundraiser ends March 14th.
