Looking Back And Moving Forward – Happy Procrastination Free 2011

Posted on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Making New Year’s Resolutions that stick.  It only takes one – live a procrastination free life.

Like everyone, I have some good memories of 2010, and some regrets.  Regrets usually come from things I have NOT done; not things I HAVE done.  I think that’s pretty standard operating procedure for most folks.

Back in our teens, twenties, thirties… yeah, maybe I shouldn’t have done some things.  But, looking back, most of those things were either;

1)  lesson learning moments, or

2)  moments that yielded some reward in the end.

Would I do some things differently now if I had the chance?  Well, sure.  But, you can’t go back.  There is no such thing as time-travel, yet.

My biggest regret always is my tendency to procrastinate.  I’ve procrastinated my way right out of some sweet opportunities and pleasures.

So, I’ll make this post short (really? me?).  I’m forgoing all the usually New Year’s Resolutions – lose weight, save money, etc. – and I’m going to make just one… “I will no longer procrastinate.”

Oh, hey!  That might just solve the other problems.  If I don’t procrastinate I’ll put my walking shoes on first thing in the morning.  If I don’t procrastinate, I’ll get air in my bike tires now.  If I don’t procrastinate, I’ll put money in my savings account first thing each pay day.  If I don’t procrastinate I’ll have the Grandkids over for dinner today, not tomorrow or next week.

What a much better life to live when one doesn’t procrastinate.  It just seems more… fulfilling, eh?

“Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.”
~ Sydney Smith ~

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones, and may 2011 bring you all good moments to remember!

p.s.  I was going to write this post yesterday, but I was procrastinating…
