Watching Your Diet But Love Mayonnaise? Check This Out!

I’ve sort of eliminated bread from my diet, not entirely, but pretty much.  Yes, I still enjoy a BLT or tuna sandwich with mayonnaise once in awhile.  When I’m doing a little better on my diet, I have a little tuna salad, chicken salad, or egg salad on fresh spinach, but the salad is still made with mayonnaise, which is a bit questionable on any diet.  I like using mayonnaise in my food, but I have read the nutrition label and it’s a scary thing.  Maybe not so much now though.

If you haven’t already tried this, you should.  Olive Oil Mayonnaise.  Ta Da!  It tastes great and is better for you.  Here’s a quick rundown of the nutrition facts:

1 Tblsp. Regular                         1 Tblsp. Olive Oil

Calories                                 90                                                    50
Calories from fat                   90                                                    45
Total fat                                10 g                                                   5 g
Saturated fat                        1.5 g                                                0.5 g
Polyunsat fat                        6.0 g                                                2.5 g
Monunsat fat                        2.5 g                                                1.5 g
Cholesterol                           5.0 g                                                5.0 g
Sodium                               90 mg                                            120 mg

Stacks up pretty well, don’t you think?  Olive Oil Mayo does have more salt, so I just reduce the amount of salt I add to my salad.  And, believe it or not, Olive Oil Mayonnaise is the same price as Regular Mayonnaise in my store.  I’m hooked.

Just thought you’d like to know.
